Taylor Marquesen

To the Wonderful Families of Cummings Valley School,
I have been honored to serve as the Principal of Cummings Valley School for the past eight years. When I came here as principal, there was a never-ending cycle of Cummings Valley leaders who would usually serve one to two years, then move on to bigger things. I came with the intention of serving the students, staff and families for no less than five years. I appreciate you all so much and have struggled with a tough decision the last few weeks: it is with a heavy heart that I am letting all of you know of my decision to retire from Cummings Valley Elementary School in September.
I have informed the district of my decision now so that the hiring process can begin and the new principal can be in place by the end of July. I have requested that I get the opportunity to support the new principal, staff and students here on our site until my last day in September. Throughout this transition, our plan is to have the TUSD district office team working alongside the Cummings Valley staff to best support the needs of students and families.
I have had a few positions within our district, and I can tell you with certainty that Cummings Valley is absolutely the best school in the Tehachapi Unified School District. I have so appreciated the smiling faces of the CV students; thank you for sharing your children with me for the past eight years. There is truly no better place to work than an elementary school with the students’ smiles, positive attitudes and the joy our CV students exude. I will truly miss my CVS family of staff and students, and will always look fondly on my time here.
Sincerely, Taylor Marquesen ~ C.V. Principal
